You would need to price out the cost of the pass based upon How many actual days of travel you are doing, not how many trips, the pass does not cover seat reservation fees which are mandatory on all high speed trains and it also does not cover travel on local metros or privately owned train lines like the Circumvesuviana that go to Pompeii, vs the cost of point to point tickets. The one thing the pass does offer is flexibity, you don't have to pick a specific date & time, you can make yoru seat reservations the day of travel. A point to point ticket you are locked into a specific day & time.
The Italy pass is Valid on the Thello train Between Italy and Paris or Dijon, it is not valid on any other train in France
