Thank you for your email. To answer your question, Italia Rail, Rail Europe, Euro Railways are all companies that issue tickets on the trains in Italy. TrenItalia is actually the company that is the rail system in Italy. However, please understand a couple of things. First of all, on Trenitalia, they do not always accept credit cards from outside of Italy, and they cannot book all the trains in Italy. Yes, it does seem strange since Trenitalia is the official rail company, but they don't issue tickets on all the trains. ItaliaRail however, is the preferred provider for Trenitalia outside of Italy. When you book tickets on italiarail.com, we actually have prices that tend to be better than you get on Trenitalia. We also are the only company that does not issue paper tickets, so there is not a shipping fee when you book tickets from us. As the preferred provider, we email you the confirmations for the trains you book, and you print out the confirmations and take the confirmation with you to Italy. On the confirmation, it will tell you if you use the confirmation to board the train, or if you need to get a paper ticket from the ticket kiosk at the departure station. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.
